Let's Bette!

I've been hymning and hawing over J Brand Bette for a while now.  If we're talking about the 70's, these jeans don't get any more retro.  There are days I'm in love with them, then there are days that I say "no way".  Either way, they definitely have a "cool" about them.  Wether worn with a tucked in blouse (like their campaign photo), or with the ever popular nautical striped tank top, these jeans have a laid back sexy that fit into any closet.  You be the judge...xoxo

btw...they run big, so size down.

Summer White

Classic blazer
We're finally in full swing of Summer.  The hot days and warm nights are begging for light, comfortable clothing.  I love white, especially for this season.  There's an etherial sophistication, for both men and women, when wearing white.  For summer keep the fabrics light.  Linens and soft cottons are the best options for laid back bbq's and long beach days.  I would forgo spending a lot of money on any maxi or mini dress.  If you're looking for a forever white piece to add to your wardrobe, go with a classic cut blazer.  Other than that, stick with H&M, Forever 21 and Zara's for white trend shopping.  xoxo

Dean Harris Jewelry...

An old friend of mine, (not by age, but by time) started his own jewelry company in 1998, Dean Harris Jewelry.  When I first met Dean we were very young trying to find our paths in life.  One thing I can say for sure is that he has an incredible work ethic and an amazing heart.  I love to see people succeed in where their passions lie and wanted to share his talent with you.

His pieces have a very organic, simple esthetic, with a little bit of an edge.  He's grown to have a huge following, celebrities, magazine editors and upscale department stores have all clamored for his pieces and i'm very proud to say, I knew him when.  Well done Dean.  xoxo

Classic Style

Lee Radziwell
I came across these old photographs from the 70's, and with the revival of that era, I thought it would be appropriate to share.  Every one of these photos is relevant today.  Whether it be a tee with a blazer and a pair of wide leg jeans or a simple blouse, chambray or not, a classic piece will stand the test of time.  Remember to think in terms of building your wardrobe.  Knowing where to spend your money will save you in the long run.  xoxo

Happy Father's Day!

Happy Father's Day to all you loved dads.   Especially to my dad, who taught me how to think, create and speak for myself, and to my amazing husband for being such an incredible model for our little boy...xoxo

The CFDA Awards

Last week fashion had it's always anticipated, CFDA awards.  I came across great photographs from photographer Jamie Beck.  I love how she captures each moment with a sense of almost being there yourself.  The vibrancy of the colors and the intimate smiles she catches are simply beautiful.  xoxo

BTW...A common thread in many of the pictures (not all shown) is the color red.  It's definitely a color to watch for the Fall.

Courtney On the Run...

Courtney Cox is a self proclaimed "decorator" and looking at the new Elle Decor, out this week, she does an amazing job.  Her esthetic of crisp modern with old barn like touches is right up my alley.  The mix of bright white, grey and  rustic brown is exactly what soft modern should be.  Her malibu home is not only luxurious but a comfortable space I wouldn't mind hanging out in.  xoxo

Looks who's 25!

Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen have been around for what seems like a lifetime.  But in reality, they're only 25.  They've had so much success in their shorts lives.  Starting out as babies on a hit tv show, to growing and running a billion dollar fashion empire.  Their lines Elizabeth and James (named after their siblings) and the upscale The Row, have fast become two of my favorites.  Now they're jumping into, the ever elusive, t-shirt world.  With their new line Stylemint, due out July 1st, it's sure to be another success.  They promise soft, well cut, worn in fabrics at an affordable price.  In the quest for finding the "perfect tee", I for one will be checking them out.  Happy Birthday Girls! xoxo

TOMS

My neice, this weekend, had the cutest pair of slipper type shoes on.  They're a mix between surfer chic and hippie homeless:),  nonetheless I found them to be really cool and what they stand for is even cooler.  They're called TOMS, it's a Southern California based company started by Blake Mycoskie.  These are eco-friendly, comfy slip-ons that for every shoe sold he sends an extra pair to a child in need.  Not only is the message great, but the shoes are a fun alternative to the regular flip flop.  xoxo

Ombre Hair

Jessie Biel
Ombre hair is one of those trends that is a little "iffy".  Hair naturally lightens the more time we spend outside, and if we color our hair the lightening process happens quicker.  Naturally sun kissed hair is pretty.   There's a soft, no fuss vibe that's attractive.  But if taken too far it can look unkept and dirty.  Many celebrities and their hair colorists have been playing around with this trend for a while now, and although I do favor the look, I'm careful not to be over zealous with the bleach.  Give it a try this summer, it's a cheap and doesn't take a huge commitment.  Good Luck!! xoxo
