Summer Nights
With summer basically kicking off this weekend our wardrobe changes start taking a more relaxed approach. I have to tell you that I am more a fan of the cooler months than I am of summer, but I do enjoy warm summer nights that accompany glowing skin.
We have quite a few choices when putting our looks together. The maxi dress is still a go to staple. It's been around a while but updating your accessories will make it look and feel current. The jumpsuit or romper is another option, it's a bit more retro but makes a great statement for those laid back BBQ'S. The look I'm really loving this season is the polished, tailored shorts with a blouse and gladiators. I find it very sophisticated and easy to wear day or night. Pair this option with a loose ponytail and a clutch and your sure to glow with perfection. xoxo

Sex and the City!
Ok girls...today is the day. Sex and the City is finally released. After a three year absence I'm so excited to see how the girls have changed and what they'll be doing next. With Aiden back in the picture I'm a little nervous, but I'm sure "Big" and Carrie will prevail. I've missed the city and most of all i've missed their incredible optimism about love and life. xoxo

Elle Decor
The June issue of Elle Decor features Meg Ryan's beautiful Martha's Vineyard retreat. It's a barnlike house that's been transformed into a modern, stylish home. She did an amazing job mixing textures with old and new fixtures. I love the tables sprinkled around the house that are made of recycled steel. And the kitchen mixes distressed dark wood with stainless steel appliances and a concrete or slate counter top. The whole esthetic of the home is perfection. It's definitely a place I would like to live. xoxo

Jackets
Lately I've been obsessing about jackets. Anything from blazers to motorcycle jackets, classic to edgy, from tweed to sequins. With the ever changing, finicky views of fashion, I'm loving the versatility that a jacket can bring. Paired with your favorite jeans and stilettos or cuffed shorts and gladiators a jacket gives you a polished end to your statement for the day. Wether you're a Jackie O or a Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen a jacket can take you seamlessly to that place. xoxo

Vogue
The new Vogue hits stands this week with Blake Lively on the cover. I don't know how many of you are Gossip Girl fans, but I am. Even though this season started slower than pasts, it didn't disappoint with monday nights season finale. And I'm hopeful that Vogue is a winner as well. xoxo

J Brand Houlihan Cargos
J brand has been making incredible jeans for many years now and they really don't seem to disappoint in fit and colors. For summer they've managed to do it again and bring forward a great cargo that fits many different body types. When I first saw the "Houlihan" cargo I wasn't convinced that the pockets at the thighs would be flattering. But I was pleasantly surprised that the fit was not only comfortable, but also very forgiving. Wether worn with stilettos for your night out, or with your favorite flip flops and tee for your casual sunday breakfast, you're sure to make them your favorite pant for the summer. Hope you can find them! xoxo

9 by Design
I'm not sure if many of you know the design team of Robert and Cortney Novogratz. They head their firm 6 Design and have a new Bravo tv show called 9 by Design. Not only are they parents of 7 kids (hence the name 9 by design) but they also have impeccable style. It's a mix of contemporary with old world, flee market finds. Ok maybe the flee markets are in Paris, but nevertheless it's a flee market.
Their book, Downtown Chic, is a step by step guide of how they approach their jobs and how to go about buying a "wreak" and turning into "ravishing". Although most people can't readily jump on a plane to go find worldly treasures, most of can find creative, inexpensive ways to achieve our own versions of Downtown Chic. Hope you enjoy...xoxo

Happy Mother's Day!
Happy Mother's day to all you incredible mom's. Although I prefer to acknowledge mom's more than just once a year, it's nice to show you care on this special day. Helen Ficalora has some really precious charms to show your mom that you're thinking of her. They're priced really well and she's sure to show her appreciation. Hope you find them charming...xoxo

Net-A-Porter
In surfing aimlessly on the computer I found myself at one of my favorite websites, Net-a-Porter. It's such an amazing site. Net-a-Porter has a wide variety of incredible designers as well as a blend of high and low necessities:).
You can find great basics, denim, workwear, even wedding splurges in their boutique pages. At the same time you can find extremely high end must have's from Balmain and Rick Owens. I've chosen a few of my favorite pieces and I hope it perks up a little bit a curiosity to check out their site. Happy hunting...xoxo

The Met Ball
The Met gala is such an amazing event. Not only for what it represents but the red carpet fashions are so much more extravagant than any awards show. I picked out a few of my favorites. I think that Anna Wintour and her daughter Bee Schaffer look incredible. Hope you enjoy!...xoxo

Brian Atwood
I'm really loving Brian Atwood pumps. They are so incredibly sexy and because of the hidden platform, very comfortable. They are a favorite of Kelly Ripa along with countless other celebrities and non-celebrities.
His newest addition, to his already complete collection, is the Loca studded heel. Maybe the name says it all, Loca (crazy), but their super chic, rocker vibe is sure to make it a classic. If you're looking for something a little less "crazy", try the classic beige patent pump. Whether you wear them with skinnies, a pencil skirt or a cocktail dress you're sure to turn some heads. xoxo

IAVA Organization
On Thursday April 29th I had the privilege of attending the 2nd annual IAVA (Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America) red carpet event at CAA (Creative Artist Agency). It was an amazing fundraiser hosted by Cameron Diaz to benefit returning veterans who are re-entering society. This organization helps these soldiers make their acclimation as seamless as possible offering them tools to become active, healthy members of society.
I was so humbled and proud to be a part of this event. The work and the sacrifice that these soldiers make often goes overlooked. Not because we're not aware, but because life moves at such a fast pace we sometimes forget to stop and look at what really is going on around us. It's because of these amazing men and women that I (we) have the freedom to blog and walk the streets conveying our own individualities. And for that I'm extremely greatful. If you're looking for an amazing charity to donate to I urge you to look at IAVA. Your generosity won't go unnoticed.xoxo

Jenna Lyons
I'm not sure if many of you know who Jenna Lyons is, but you should. She is the creative director for JCrew. Jenna oversees everything that goes into what JCrew is today. From collaborating with the designers on their designs, to what looks will be showcased in the catalogs. She's been with the company since she was 21 years old and has over the years worked herself up the ladder.
I really didn't know much about Jenna Lyons until I saw her on Oprah recently. Then I realized that I had seen an article in one of the magazines I subscribed too, DOMINO (which is no longer). Although i'm not a super fan of the "preppy" JCrew style, I really like Jenna's personal style. She mixes and matches all sorts of different textures to give an eclectic vibe to her life.
My favorite piece to Jenna Lyons' life is her Brooklyn apartment. It's such a mix of modern and funky. As you can see from the photos, it's a relaxed, highly stylized vibe. From the black chairs with sheepskin covering them in the living room, to the black walls in her bedroom, she manages to bring this eclectic style forward without it looking like a circus.
I enjoy going back to the photos for my own life's inspirations, and I hope you enjoy her vision as well....xoxo
