House of HERMES!

What can I say, or do I have to say that we don't already know about HERMES?  This house is synonymous with sophistication, timelessness and all around a true classic.  In the present day of this horrible recession, it's the only design house that has shown more than a 26% growth rate just in the first 6 months of 2010.  Along with other luxury brands, HERMES continues it's strength.

Ok, that's enough of the stats, lets face it...HERMES is just cool.  What I love most, is how something so incredibly conservative, that hasn't changed it's esthetic since it's inception, can look so "now" and just plain amazing.  Yes, I know, HERMES isn't the cheapest house in the world, but one things for sure, anything that you're lucky to acquire now...will be passed down and worn by your daughter later.  xoxo

Fur...ocious

There's a lot of controversy wether to wear fur or not.  Although I'm not an advocate of going out and buying a new fur coat, there are some instances (climate in different parts of the world) that do warrant fur. I'm from LA, so obviously wearing fur here is a little ridiculous, but eskimos in Alaska use fur as part of their survival.

With that said...fur can look incredibly cool.  There's a sense of glamour and sophisticated unkeptness when you throw on a fur over your pajamas (sex and the city!) or the yin and yang of hard (leather) vs soft (fur).    It's almost like I don't care, but I do really cause I threw on a $10,000 fur over my Victoria Secret's Pink sweatshirt.  As much as I like the look, I've never been able to throw one on.  The thought of those beautiful little noses and faces of the animals has always spoken louder.  What do you think!  xoxo

Boots!!

Well, boot season is definitely upon us.  With the cold temps and wet streets there's not a better time to invest in some classic, comfortable boots.  Boots, I think, are a tricky accessory.  Most magazines always have a spread on the latest and greatest, but they never really go into how to wear a boot.  Ya, okay, there's only a few ways to wear them, over the jean, under the jean, over the knee or stay at the ankle, but depending on your body type and height, the boot you pick makes all the difference in you looking frumpy or fabulous.

There are 4 heights in boots:  Over the knee, under the knee, at the calf or an ankle bootie.  All are equally flattering if it fits your body type.  But the key would there is: body type!  I truly believe that over the knee and at the calf are the hardest to wear boot.  I think for both these styles you have to be extremely tall and thin.  These boots cut you at a place that accentuates curves.  That's not necessarily a bad thing if you don't have curves, but honestly, unless I look like Giselle I won't be wearing these styles.

The boots worn at the knee and ankles booties, I think are the most forgiving, and honestly, the most classic.  I know some of you are saying "ankles booties", "they make my butt look big".  But the booties are very versatile.  Pulling your jean over the boot gives you a streamline leg.  Also wearing a heeled bootie with leggings and a longer tunic or even a dress gives you a proportion that's pleasing to the eye.

Boots to the knee are the most classic.  Whether you like it heeled or flat, you really can't go wrong with a boot to the knee.  The only thing I think to watch out for is the size of the opening at the knee.  If it's too big, it looks sloppy.  I also watch for the proportions of the articles of clothing I'm wearing.  If worn with a jacket at the waist, I like a longer tunic underneath.  If I'm wearing a shorter top, a longer cardigan looks modern and chic.

Regardless of what you choose, just remember to be you.  Being you is your greatest accessory. xoxo

Olivia P...Has a new show?

As most of you know I really love Olivia Palermo's sense of style.  When MTV announced that they wouldn't be renewing The City, I was hopping they would be announcing her own show at the same time. Although nothing has been formally announced, the rumor is, that Olivia has a show in the works.  Her flawless style and lady like elitism is surely missed and without doubt Olivia can make a show work within her own right.  Hope you like the gallery of pics! xoxo
