Green With Envy!

Chanel with leather...Perfect!
The holidays are fast approaching.  Rosh Hashanah (starting Wednesday) is the beginning of it all and with this festive season comes excuses to buy festive clothes.  It's no secret that color is ruling right now, but sifting through all the choices can be anything but holiday cheer"ific".

Emerald green is one of my favorite color choices.  Not only does it look good on a variety of women, changing the style from conservative to edgy is a simple task with green.  Adding leather to a great evening dress can take you from uptown to downtown, as well as adding an ivory silk blouse with a great trouser can do the same reversed.  Either way emerald green is a chic choice to getting noticed.  xoxo

Fall Favorites!

Leather leggings are still a go...Black and White is a trend
I, personally, am not quite ready for summer to end.  I'm sure there are other's (on the east coast) that would probably disagree.  Nevertheless we're still about six weeks away, and it's never too early to start thinking about the "holes" we have in our closets.  There are a lot of trends to sift through and some are more desirable than others, but it's nice to have the choices to find our personal voice.  Keep in mind classic lines in classic colors when you're purchasing pieces.   Graphic prints and long skirts are big trends, but be careful not to combine the prints with the skirts...you know what I mean!?  xoxo
Cropped leather jacket...always a must
Loving wide leg trousers!
Tweed is big for fall...You can't go wrong with CHANEL
Skinny belt with long cashmere cardigan...love!
Pointy pumps...edgy

Ahhh CHANEL

The Cruise wear fashion shows have started and I find these shows to be the favorite among many people.  The Resort category is much more wearable and most LA department stores order heavy from these shows.  The most recent, CHANEL, was so beautiful.  Not only did the back drop and furniture feel like it took place in a garden, but the clothes were so feminine and whimsical.  Karl Lagerfeld is truly one of geniuses and how he keeps an almost 100 year old fashion house current and new is inspiring.  xoxo

Karl Lagerfeld

I just have to share with you Karl Lagerfeld's Paris studio.  Of course I wouldn't expect anything less behind the mastermind of Chanel, but this studio is pure perfection.  Here are some photographs taken by photographer Piotr Stoklosa.  Enjoy! xoxo

What's my style!?

I often get asked this question, "what's my style" or "how do I find my style".  It's kind of a tricky question.  We all have fashion trends and styles that we follow and are comfortable wearing.  Some of us fall in the more casual, ready to wear category, some fall into more couture and some really just don't care and anything from anywhere is fine.  Honestly I really don't think there's a wrong or right way to look at fashion.  I know for me I love fashion, I love the creativity it brings out in me and I love trying to make old things new and new things last.

I don't believe that fashion and style is only about following the next trend.  I think it's important to update, and to take your interpretation of what a trend is and make it your own.  If grey nails, red lips and leather leggings aren't your thing, try legging jeans with a red coat and a leather bag.  You will still be following trends but interpreting them to fit you and your lifestyle.  I think that's where most of us make the mistakes.  We feel the need to follow what's literal on the pages of magazines or the runways of fashion week.

Always remember being true to who you are is your biggest accessory.  If you approach fashion from who and what you are, versus who someone else is, you can never go wrong.  Feeling confident and whole in your own skin is what's going to set you apart.  Not the Chanel bag or the Louboutin heels.  But those accessories are fun to have as well.  Happy searching.  xoxo

Fall 2010 Beauty Trends

There are a couple of different beauty trends that have stood out this season, and I'm happy to say that they're all pretty wearable.  Keep in mind not everyone will be able to wear them verbatim, but they are very easy to tweek.

The first trend takes a bit of an attitude, but when done right it's absolutely beautiful.  Bold, red lips is as classic as classic gets.  I sometimes have a hard time with this trend because it's very easy to look "overdone",   but paired with a fresh face and minimal eye make-up it can be stunning.

Another trend we're seeing a lot of are grey colored nails.  This trend isn't for everyone, as it can make the hands look lifeless and a little old, but it's a nice alternative to the overdone black palate.  Deborah Lippman, Lancome and Chanel all have varying degrees of grey.  (you can always wear red)

The third trend and one of my favorites, is a bold brow.  This is a trend, that I believe, we should never let go of.  Having a full brow keeps a youthful look to the face.  There are different degrees of thickness to play with depending on the shape and structure of your face, but keeping them on the fuller side could add some softness and youthfulness that is cheaper than botox and fillers:).  Good luck on playing with your new looks...xoxo

Latest Obsession

Okay, I have a new obsession.  I've recently been into stacking bracelets.  I like the look of "junking" up the arm.  I also prefer fine jewelry (gold/diamonds) vs just any type of metal but, with that said, it takes time and money to start and keep collecting pieces.  I would suggest to anyone that's looking to start a collection, to first sit down and figure out what you like and dislike.  Do you like gold tones vs white tones?  Are you a fine jewelry collector or costume jewelry hound?  There are some beautiful costume pieces that can be extremely expensive.  Think vintage Chanel or Hermes.  Regardless of what you decide, try to stay as classic as possible.  This obsession can get ridiculous and you want to be able to wear what you have for years to come.

A few designers that offer many different styles are Sydney EvanRoseark and Jennifer Meyer.  They are all based out of Los Angeles and have a nice selection of high and low end pieces.  You can find their creations at Barneys and Roseark itself.  Or you can try some online retailers.  Either way good luck on your journey, hope you find what you're looking for.  xoxo
