Soho House...

Last night I had the pleasure of attending a fund raising event at the Soho House West Hollywood.  I don't know if most of you know, but the Soho House is a members only club.  It was founded in London in 1995 for those in film, media and creative industries.  So as you can imagine, it has that uber cool, almost brooding vibe.  It has different lounging area's/rooms, that apparently the night before Angelina Jolie was working on her IPAD in.  Their exclusive restaurant is owned by the same people that own Cecconi's on Melrose, and, even though, I did not see the pool in West Hollywood, the pool at the Soho House in New York is famous in of it self.  We had an amazing time and if you ever get the chance to go try not to turn it down...xoxo

Sweater Season!?

Well...being that it's been about 100 degrees here in LA, I'm not really that motivated to be talking about sweaters.  But, as fast as it got hot, it's sure to feel more like winter soon.

Sweaters have made a huge comeback as a wardrobe staple.  It's definitely one of those items that you can take out of your closet year after year.  Cardigans and Knit sweater coats are pieces that I encourage people to spend money on.  Sweaters definitely run a roller coaster of trends.  Some seasons are more "trendy" for sweaters than others, but they always seem to make their way back.  There's something esthetically pleasing pairing an old pair of boyfriend jeans with a luxurious, beautifully made sweater.  Hope it gets cold soon! xoxo

A relative unknown...

Last week I read that one of the stars of ABC's Brothers and Sisters,  Dave Annable, wed Odette Yustman.  This information really didn't mean a whole lot to me, I don't watch Brothers and Sisters, and I didn't know who Odette Yustman was, but as I read on and saw a few of their wedding photos I noticed how incredibly beautiful Odette is.  As most of my blogs can attest too, I like natural, unfussy beauty and because of this I thought I would profile Odette.  She's relatively unknown, but I'm sure with her latest nuptials, that's sure to change.  She has an ease that makes her an approachable girl next door, but her internal grace gives that undeniable sex appeal.  Hope you agree...xoxo

What's my style!?

I often get asked this question, "what's my style" or "how do I find my style".  It's kind of a tricky question.  We all have fashion trends and styles that we follow and are comfortable wearing.  Some of us fall in the more casual, ready to wear category, some fall into more couture and some really just don't care and anything from anywhere is fine.  Honestly I really don't think there's a wrong or right way to look at fashion.  I know for me I love fashion, I love the creativity it brings out in me and I love trying to make old things new and new things last.

I don't believe that fashion and style is only about following the next trend.  I think it's important to update, and to take your interpretation of what a trend is and make it your own.  If grey nails, red lips and leather leggings aren't your thing, try legging jeans with a red coat and a leather bag.  You will still be following trends but interpreting them to fit you and your lifestyle.  I think that's where most of us make the mistakes.  We feel the need to follow what's literal on the pages of magazines or the runways of fashion week.

Always remember being true to who you are is your biggest accessory.  If you approach fashion from who and what you are, versus who someone else is, you can never go wrong.  Feeling confident and whole in your own skin is what's going to set you apart.  Not the Chanel bag or the Louboutin heels.  But those accessories are fun to have as well.  Happy searching.  xoxo

Season for Scarves

It's been pretty dreary in LA this last week.  Although it hasn't been terribly cold, it's been really wet.  I don't know about you guys, but humidity and rain is not a good combination to looking cute.  The drowned rat effect isn't one of my favorites.  Something I like to pull out, that's easy to wear and gives a bit of sophistication, is a scarf.  Not only is a scarf functional, but it can add a pop of color to any grey day.  Wether worn with flats, boots, jeans or shorts you really can't go wrong wrapping yourself in a love quote. Fall 2010 Beauty Trends

There are a couple of different beauty trends that have stood out this season, and I'm happy to say that they're all pretty wearable.  Keep in mind not everyone will be able to wear them verbatim, but they are very easy to tweek.

The first trend takes a bit of an attitude, but when done right it's absolutely beautiful.  Bold, red lips is as classic as classic gets.  I sometimes have a hard time with this trend because it's very easy to look "overdone",   but paired with a fresh face and minimal eye make-up it can be stunning.

Another trend we're seeing a lot of are grey colored nails.  This trend isn't for everyone, as it can make the hands look lifeless and a little old, but it's a nice alternative to the overdone black palate.  Deborah Lippman, Lancome and Chanel all have varying degrees of grey.  (you can always wear red)

The third trend and one of my favorites, is a bold brow.  This is a trend, that I believe, we should never let go of.  Having a full brow keeps a youthful look to the face.  There are different degrees of thickness to play with depending on the shape and structure of your face, but keeping them on the fuller side could add some softness and youthfulness that is cheaper than botox and fillers:).  Good luck on playing with your new looks...xoxo

Julia Restoin Roitfeld

You're probably not familiar with this name, but she's basically fashion royalty.   Her mother is the editor-in-chief of French Vogue and her father a successful business man.  Besides her amazing good looks, Julia is a working model and has a small art-direction firm in New York City.  Growing up in the midst of fashion shoots, stylists and photographers something was bound to rub off.  She's recently been named the new face of Lancome and her campaign should start making it's way to the pages by spring.  I think she's someone to watch in the ever evolving world of fashion and I hope you find her interesting as well...xoxo
