Love me some sequin!!

As you can see by the name of my blog, I am a big fan of sequins.  I love how unexpected it can be.  We really haven't seen so much buzz about sequins since the 80's.  Back then it was all about the over the top, more is better look.  I'm sure we've all seen the bad eighties hair, with over sized shoulder pads, and a really bad disco ball jacket.  Wearing sequins in today's world, seems to be more laid back, more fun and way less pretentious.  So, how do you wear sequins, you ask?  Anyway you want!  There aren't any rules, really.  But I think that the only line I would follow is, pairing it with different textures.  Try t-shirts with sequin pants, or jeans with a jacket.  Whatever you do, just be fearless and own it! Have fun...xoxo

Favorite Things...

In the midst of so many amazing designers, fashions and accessories it's easy to get lost and confused on what's a forever piece and what's a "right now" trend.  In trying to find your personal style, your bound to make mistakes and have some regrets.  But always remember to be true to who you are not only as a person but also in what your day to day activities are.  Fashion and style aren't about being a slave to the trends, but about having fun and dressing for self expression.  Once you do and own your look, it doesn't matter what the pages of Vogue say.  Trust me, yes I love Vogue, but it's about guidance and luxe rather than desperate page turning trying to find the next trend to waste your money on.  With all this said, I'd like to share with you what my favorite things are.  No matter what the trends show, I always go back to these pieces.  Hope you like...xoxo

Latest Obsession

Okay, I have a new obsession.  I've recently been into stacking bracelets.  I like the look of "junking" up the arm.  I also prefer fine jewelry (gold/diamonds) vs just any type of metal but, with that said, it takes time and money to start and keep collecting pieces.  I would suggest to anyone that's looking to start a collection, to first sit down and figure out what you like and dislike.  Do you like gold tones vs white tones?  Are you a fine jewelry collector or costume jewelry hound?  There are some beautiful costume pieces that can be extremely expensive.  Think vintage Chanel or Hermes.  Regardless of what you decide, try to stay as classic as possible.  This obsession can get ridiculous and you want to be able to wear what you have for years to come.

A few designers that offer many different styles are Sydney EvanRoseark and Jennifer Meyer.  They are all based out of Los Angeles and have a nice selection of high and low end pieces.  You can find their creations at Barneys and Roseark itself.  Or you can try some online retailers.  Either way good luck on your journey, hope you find what you're looking for.  xoxo

Happy Labor Day!

Hope everyone is enjoying the Labor day weekend.  With the summer coming to an end I came across some pictures that I think depict the serene, hot, soft days of the season.  Hope you enjoy and have a safe Labor day.  xoxo

Military!!

There's been a huge push this year in military inspired fashions.  At the beginning of spring into summer we saw J brand explode with their army green cargo pants.  Now as we're heading into fall we're starting to see different variations, maybe even more flattering, of the same vibe.  Recently, many celebrities have been wearing Current/Elliott's version of military fatigues.  What's nice about them is that they're a relaxed fit with no pockets.  They're worn low on the waist but slightly tapper toward the ankle so that you can wear them out to dinner with a blazer and heels.  Military isn't for everyone, not everyone likes the depressing colors of olive green and brown, but I like that's it's an alternative to always wearing jeans.  Hope you like....ooh rah...xoxo

Flipping Out!

Well...I'm back!  It's been a little while since i've blogged.  Honestly, I just haven't felt like it.  But nevertheless here we go again.  Tuesday night, on Bravo, starts Flipping Out.  I can't wait.  Jeff Lewis is neurotically fantastic.  For those of you that don't know him, he's an OCD, narcissistic, house builder/flipper.  But with the economy being so bad, he's turned to more his roots, which is interior design.  Not only is he extremely talented and has impeccable taste, he's actually a nice guy with a big heart.

House Beautiful, every year, picks a designer to design their kitchen.  And this year they had Jeff Lewis design it.  I love his masculine style with clean lines.  My favorite part of the kitchen is the white island in the middle.  The contrast of dark and light is very appealing.  Hope you enjoy it as much as I do.  xoxo

Hang in there!

I haven't been blogging a whole lot lately, not because I haven't wanted to, but things have been pretty hectic lately.  I've also been having "inspiration block".  But I will keep pushing forward, I just probably need to change my mind set.  Anyway, hang in there with me, i'll be starting up again this weekend.  Enjoy this incredible weekend.  xoxo
